On completion of formality examination, search of the mark is done as against existing or pending registered marks or design to meet the following criteria:

New/original: the design applied for should not be similar or identical to existing designs; it should be the original design from the author or owner.

Distinctive- the mark applied for should not be similar or identical to existing marks.

Non-descriptive – the mark applied for must not describe its functionality.

Non-Generic- the mark applied for must be of generic element to a particular filed or subject matters.
