DDGC COSOL Meeting

COSOL Board recieves it’s New Board chairperson; Hon. Clarence H. Cole.

Hon. Clarence H. Cole statement at the ceremony:

Distinguished members of the Board, I tender my warm greetings.

It is with great pleasure and honor that I stand before you today as the Chair of the Board for the Collective Society of Liberia (COSOL). I am deeply humbled to have been entrusted with this important role in keeping with the regulations and the Liberia Intellectual Property Acts of 2016.

I must commend the outgoing Chairperson, Hon. Clifford Robinson for a successful conduct of board activities and the smooth turnover of authority. This does not only demonstrate leadership but also set a precedent of the first transition of the Board leadership. I am committed to working tirelessly in ensuring that members of all Unions; which constitute the Board, gain trust and confidence in the workings of the Collective Society of Liberia (COSOL)’s Board.

The Collective Society of Liberia plays a vital role in promoting and protecting the rights of creators and ensuring that they are properly compensated for their work. The CMO is charged with the function to bring together artists, musicians, writers, and other creators to collectively manage their rights and royalties in an effective and efficient manner. As Chair of the Board, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and integrity within the organization.

As stated during my taking over ceremony as Deputy Director General for Copyright at the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO), IT SHOULD NOT, MUST NOT AND WILL NOT BE BUSINESS AS USUAL on the Board of The Collective Society of Liberia (COSOL) The time has come that we put the welfare of our creators above all else. I believe that by working together with our members and partners, we can achieve great things and make a positive impact on the creative community in Liberia. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to the members of the Board, our dedicated staff, and all our stakeholders for their hard work and commitment.

I am confident that with their support and collaboration, we can overcome any challenges that may come our way and continue to grow and thrive as an organization.

In closing, I want to thank all of you for your continued support and trust in the Collective Society of Liberia. Together, we can build a brighter future for our creative community and ensure that the rights of creators are respected and upheld.

Thank you.
